That is the compressor map with the boost pressures that we are going to be in on that turbocharger....
The lowest one is what we will be at but I pot some points for a little more boost pressure so that if we get as far as a built block what we will be working with.
The points on the lowest line are for what we will use @14psi of boost... you can see how the flow of the turbo will be used as the rpm's increase and for 14psi I think we will be very very good with lots of meat on the center of the map = lots of fat torque and tractable power.
What you will see on the left side is the pressure + atmosphere that will be used and the bottom is the flow at a specified rpm point. Its hard to learn how to read a graph but its pretty damn cool when you know what you are looking at. I had graphed the map since i was looking at this turbo to make sure that this turbo would even work for us becuase if the map is off the graph one side or another then thats bad.
one side of the bad side is that 1. the turbo is not being brought up to speed by the exhaust gas 2. the turbo is going too fast because its too small 3. the turbo is blowing (aka. surging) too hard thats like a person having a heartattack.

Stuff left to get
The only things i really have left to get are:
- Sideskirts from a nissan model Silvia or 180sx or 180sx type X
- Lowering springs or coilovers (since the car is already going to be on the race end of the spectrum with all the solid arms and engine mounts the coilovers would finish out the package)
- A fresh clutch to manage 400whp
- Paint not a super bling cairoli paint job but to make the car not look so sunburnt (thats like 2009)
- A couple dyno runs

So what's been installed?
(Click image to view bigger version)
Ralliart4: I have installed the subframe spaces, the intercooler, taken all the unneeded periferals like the EGR valve and the unneceessary vaccuum and emissions stuff off of the intake manifold and installed the tension rods (which i have to take off to put the solid ones on again). I have also installed the altima fans and wired them up i just need a power source for them now. I have taken the AC condenser out beucase there was no AC compressor and it would be a restriction anyway... oh yes i need to buy a radiator poop!
Cleaned up the motor changed some of the stuff around.. got it to even start. And the stuff that I listed are all here or on the way.
To JDM or not to JDM...
Ralliart4: Well, my thing is that there isn't a JDM engine in it or anythng to really say ooohhhhhhhhh that's so JDM Josh yo! So I will keep it as a 240sx but cleaner, faster and better. Just like there is a maximum tune for the SR that's the same setup with the KA that I want to do.Thoughts on the paint job...
Ralliart4: I am thinking about doing that black top with the white bottom but just the silvia or 180sx side skirts not the whole silvia conversion that is a waste of money for a KA car... that is why I have not bought a 180sx tail center section. Because it's really a 240sx nothing JDM about it... it's all monster truck motor.

Deja vu...

Anarchy: Here we are again. Ralli and I both missed Burnt Orange Sunset and Q (our his and hers SR-swap 240SXs) and Max (single cam KA hatch) terribly. It's not that the WRX is fulfilling but it's not a 240 and it's hard to tinker with your daily driver and then sleep comfortably at night. But enough of me yapping. I'll let Ralli explain...
Why did you want to start all over again with another 240SX? What was that comment about not feeling like there's anything else in your life you can fix?
Ralliart: Yeah, I have worked on so many that I can fix almost anything on those cars... I know where to improve on with the least amount of money to have the best impact.
But the main reason is that we can have a car that we can beat on and don't have to worry about it breaking. Even if it breaks the parts are cheap and easy to source. The WRX is pretty much at its reliable limit with the main mods left to do being a clutch replacement and a dyno tune. The cost of repars on the WRX is also high with a new block being about $500 — the same as a KA block that is not the difference but with the present power levels the transmission comes in as a very important factor that needs to be respected with a new transmission (newer upgraded STI RA gears and install) running at about $2500. That is the cost of buying and building the 240sx in total. The secondary factor is that all the other folks in Atlanta are getting into the swing, when I stopped dancing years ago and I guess dem think me new to this thing.
The WRX is too expensive to repair and the price to repair can more than cover the price to build this car.
